Our group organised a workshop on “Resilience in 6G and beyond: Perspectives, Challenges and Design Approaches” at the 2026 EuCNC & 6G Summit in Málaga. It was a pleasure to welcome experts from the University of Oulu, Nokia, Ericsson, Siemens, Telefónica, and Keysight Technologies.
Our discussions highlighted that many resilience principles have been studied over the past few decades and can be adopted by communication engineers. However, close collaboration between industry, academia, and regulators remains very important. We also learned about the necessity of cross-layer designs, programmable networks, and advanced security features being developed in 3GPP. Finally, we must continue our efforts to find suitable metrics for formally quantifying resilience in a wide range of use cases.
